Built for the devoted freerider, the new Free Shell 2.0 is a specialist 3-layer shell program designed for hardcore winter exposure: big lines, big airs, epic powder days and the search for backcountry adventures — in any weather conditions. This jacket has a long, oversized fit for maximized freedom of movement, large ventilation zippers for fast temperature adjustment, a generous hood that will fit any helmet and technical details designed to excel in mountain terrain.

When we launched its predecessor a few years back, it was an instant hit with the freeriding community and basically sold out within weeks. Then Covid struck, and production was delayed, so we took the opportunity to update the Free Shell program down to the very last detail: a completely new fabric, significant technical upgrades, an adjusted oversized fit, and improvements based on the feedback from users all over the world — all while adhering to high environmental standards.

The newly developed 3-layer shell is built from a new 100% pre-consumer recycled Japanese nylon fabric, paired with the unrivalled Dermizax™ NX technology from Toray. It offers increased durability while maintaining the exceptional waterproofness, extraordinary breathability and low weight that professional riders demand. You will have a hard time finding any shell material that can compete with its performance.

The new YKK AquaGuard® 2-way ventilation zippers are slightly enlarged, and all zippers are stitched for improved durability. The collar is redesigned with laser-cut ventilation holes on the front placket. All pockets are oversized, providing plenty of room for pocket bacon, latschenkiefersalbe and other go-to gear. The fit is slightly updated for unrestricted freedom of movement and enhanced performance.

A striking monochrome styling offsets its boundary-pushing performance, keeping it current for years and making it easy to combine with other Free System signature colors.

Main fabric: 3-layer 100 % pre-consumer recycled nylon with Dermizax™ NX membrane. 181 g/m2. Fabric checked by Global Recycled Standard. Made in Japan.

Main fabric denier: 70 D x 140 D (Woven fabric in which the warp and weft have different denier).

Waterproofness: + 20 000 mm. DWR treated main fabric.

Breathability: 25 000 g/m2/24h.

Garment weight: S 675g, M 710g, L 730g, XL 775g, XXL 790g.

Center back length: S 83 cm, M 85 cm, L 87,5 cm, XL 90 cm, XXL 92,5 cm.

Garment fit: Free system has an oversized fit. If you prefer a more regular fit, we suggest ordering one size smaller.

Hood & collar: Fixed hood. Front opening adjustable with elastic cord and cord locks. Velcro adjuster at back. Helmet compatible. Extra high collar with laser cut holes ventilation. Inner placket at front equipped with drainage channel.

Pockets: Two vertical large zipped chest pockets. One zipped lower arm pocket. One inner zipped pocket.

Zippers: YKK zippers. YKK Aquaguard™ technology used on all exposed zippers. Two-way zipper at front.

Ventilation: Zipped ventilation under arms.

Sleeve & cuffs: Pre-bent extra long sleeves for increased freedom of movement. Extra large cuff openings adjustable with velcro. Gorilla grip tape reinforcement at inside.

Bottom hem: Bottom hem adjustable with internal elastic drawstring and cord locks at sides. Gorilla grip tape reinforcement at inside.

Snow-gaiter: Internal snow-gaiter with Stellar Closure System.

For all non EU customers: All orders placed before 10:00 CET (Monday-Friday) will be shipped the same day.

You pay what you see. All duties and VAT are included in the total price for your order at checkout.
Wash & Care

Fine wash the garments in cold water, maximum 30°C, by itself or with other garments in similar colors. Make sure to close all pockets and the front zipper. Do not use fabric softener.
After wash, tumble dry or iron the jacket on low temperature to re-activate water-repellency.
