The new Free Shell 2.0 is designed for maximized performance when freeskiing or snowboarding. Completely re-engineered from the ground up, it will handle anything from resort minigolf and extensive park sessions, to epic powder days and big backcountry lines.

Based on the feedback from thousands of users, the Free Shell 2.0 offer unlimited freedom of movement, class-leading breathability, great durability, and maximised protection from howling storms, waist-deep powder and zealous ski-patrollers.

The new 3-layer shell fabric is made from Japanese 100% pre-consumer recycled nylon, a pivotal change with a low impact and a key factor to making this one of our most significant product upgrades ever.

The Free System™ has an oversized fit, designed to be worn baggy. If you prefer a more regular fit — consider sizing down.

    Built for the devoted freerider, the new Free Shell 2.0 is a specialist hard core program designed for winter exposure: big lines, big airs, epic powder days and the search for backcountry adventures — in any weather conditions. These bib pants have an oversized fit for maximised freedom of movement, large ventilation zippers for fast temperature adjustment, a stretchable and breathable bib, drop-seat construction for easy bathroom access and technical details designed to excel in mountain terrain.

    When we launched its predecessor a few years back it was an instant hit with the freeriding community and basically sold out within weeks. Then Covid struck and production was delayed, so we took the opportunity to update the Free Shell program down to the very last detail: a completely new fabric, significant technical upgrades, an adjusted oversized fit, and improvements based on the feedback from users all over the world — all while adhering to high environmental standards.

    The newly developed 3-layer shell it is built from a new 100% pre-consumer recycled Japanese nylon fabric, paired with the unrivalled Dermizax™ NX technology from Toray. It offers increased durability while maintaining the exceptional waterproofness, extraordinary breathability and low weight that professional riders demand. You will have a hard time finding any shell material that can compete with its performance.

    The new YKK AquaGuard® 2-way ventilation zippers are slightly enlarged, and all zippers are stitched for improved durability. Pockets are oversized, providing plenty of room for pocket bacon, latschenkiefersalbe and other go-to gear. A welcome improvement is the drop-seat construction making it a (presumably cold) breeze to pee in the pow. The fit is slightly updated for for unrestricted freedom of movement and enhanced performance.

    A striking monochrome styling offsets its boundary-pushing performance, keeping it current for years and making it easy to combine with other Free System signature colors.

    Main fabric denier: 70 D x 140 D (Woven fabric in which the warp and weft have different denier).

    Reinforcement fabric denier: 210 D x 280 D (Woven fabric in which the warp and weft have different denier.)

    Waterproofness: + 20 000 mm. DWR treated main and reinforcement fabric

    Breathability: 25 000 g/m2/24h (main fabric). 12 000 g/m2/24h (reinforcement fabric)

    Garment weight: S 750,3g, M 783,4g, L 807,2g, XL 840,3g.

    Inseam length: S 79cm, M 79 cm, L 81 cm, XL 81 cm.

    Garment fit: Free system has an oversized fit. If you prefer a more regular fit, we suggest ordering one size smaller.

    Pockets: Two zipped fleece insulated hand pockets. Two zipped leg pockets, right pocket equipped with loop for attaching transceiver and small inner mesh pocket.

    Zippers: YKK zippers. YKK Aquaguard™ technology used on all exposed zippers. Two-way zippers at ventilation.

    Ventilation: Zipped ventilation along outside of legs with drop seat function. Press buttons along zippers to regulate ventilation airflow.

    Waist: Waist with Stellar Closure System, belt loops and buttons. Zipped bib in lightweight stretch fabric. Adjustable suspenders in elastic webbing.

    Snow-gaiter: Internal snow gaiter in lightweight stretch fabric at leg opening. Stellar Closure System connects pants with jacket snowgaiter.

    RECCO® Makes You Searchable: Equipped with RECCO reflector at lower right leg.

    Note: Please note that colors differ slightly between Free Shell 1.0 and Free Shell 2.0 due to differences in fabric texture and luminance. A perfect match can not be guaranteed.

    You pay what you see. All duties and VAT are included in the total price for your order at checkout.

  • Fine wash the garments in cold water, maximum 30°C, by itself or with other garments in similar colors. Make sure to close all pockets and the front zipper. Do not use fabric softener.
    After wash, tumble dry or iron the jacket on low temperature to re-activate water-repellency.
