Built for devoted freeriders, the Free Shell System™ is a specialist 3-layer shell designed to thrive in extreme winter exposure: big lines, big airs, epic powder days, and backcountry adventures—whatever the weather. With a comfortable and stretchable bib, a loose fit for maximum freedom of movement, and oversized ventilation zippers for quick temperature adjustment, it’s packed with technical details to excel in mountain terrain.

When the Free System launched, it became an instant favorite with freeriders for combining loose, contemporary styling with top-shelf performance materials. Built for progressive, on-mountain performance and refined through feedback from skiers worldwide, it’s a system designed for riders who demand exceptional function—without compromise.

The newly developed 3-layer shell is made from 100% pre-consumer recycled Japanese nylon and powered by Dermizax™NX technology from Toray. It’s exceptionally durable while maintaining industry-leading waterproofness, breathability, and low weight—performance that’s hard to match anywhere on the market.

A clean, monochrome aesthetic underscores its boundary-pushing performance, keeping it timeless and easy to pair with other Free System™ signature colors. Oversized YKK AquaGuard® ventilation zippers provide instant airflow, while all zippers are stitched for improved durability. Oversized pockets provide plenty of room for essentials like pocket bacon and latschenkiefersalbe.

The Free Shell Bibs are part of The Free System™, Stellar Equipment’s innovative ecosystem of premium technical layering products for big lines and progressive freeriding.

Wash & Care
Shell garments are designed to protect you in harsh weather, and proper care is essential to maintain their performance. Washing your shell regularly helps remove dirt, oils, and residue that can compromise durability, breathability and water repellency.
- Wash Regularly: Fine wash your garment in cold water (maximum 30°C), either on its own or with similar colors. Close all zippers and pockets before washing. Avoid fabric softeners, as they can affect the garment’s technical properties.
- Reactivate Water Repellency: The Free Shell 2.5 is treated with a PFAS-free durable water repellent (DWR) coating, a more environmentally friendly choice. It may need reactivation or reapplication more often than traditional treatments. Reapply a DWR spray periodically for optimal protection.
Frequent washing keeps your garment breathable, prevents dirt from clogging the fabric, and ensures consistent performance during your adventures. Proper care means your gear will be ready for the elements every time you are.
